Prerequisite Software Installation for Apple Mac OS X

The following is an outline of the steps involved in installing the prerequisite software for running the 3D Orbit Viewer application on the Mac OS X. The reader should refer to each product's installation instructions for detailed information about installing the product.

Step 1: Upgrade Mac OS if necessary

If you are not already running Mac OS X 10.3.1 or later, you must upgrade your Mac OS before proceeding. If you cannot upgrade, you will not be able to run the 3D Orbit Viewer application.

Step 2: Upgrade JavaTM 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) if necessary

If you don't already have Java 1.4.1 or higher installed, upgrade to Java version 1.4.1 or higher. Java 1.4.1 was initially release by Apple as a Software Update to Mac OS X 10.2. Java 1.4.1 was included with Mac OS X 10.3.1 so if you have Mac OS X 10.3.1 or higher, you should have the prerequiste Java.

Step 3: Install the Java 3DTM API if necessary

If you are using Mac OS X 10.3.x, install the Java 3D and Java Advanced Imaging Update.

When finished installing the prerequisite software, close this window and return to the 3D Orbit Viewer application site to launch the application.
